Diary of a Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself Book

by Jeff Kinney

Now every kid can write like a Wimpy Kid!

An exciting companion to the bestselling Diary of a Wimpy Kid series.

“First of all, let me get something straight: This is a journal, not a diary.”

This innovative interactive journal based on Greg Heffley’s own “diary” lets kids express themselves in an exciting new way. In Diary of a Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself Book, kids will be asked: What was the best dream you ever had? The worst thing you ever ate? The best secret you ever heard? The most trouble you ever got in for something that wasn’t even your fault to begin with? This Do-It-Yourself Book features art throughout, along with ruled and blank pages for readers to create their own stories, keep their own diaries, and record their favorites and least faves. Includes a bonus full-color comics section featuring the collected cartoons of Greg Heffley and his best friend, Rowley.

Includes
16 pages of full-color comics!

“Move over, Harry Potter. . . . There’s a new set of titles dominating the bestseller list for kids’ chapter books, and there’s nothing ‘fantasy’ about these.”â€"Andrea Yeats on NPR’s All Things Considered

“Perfectly pitched wit and believably self-centered hero . . .”â€"The New York Times

“Charming and hilarious from the get-go. . . . [Kinney has] an uncanny eye for the depredations and triumphs of middle school life.” â€"The Boston Globe

“The writing is sharp, and the artwork, though deceptively simple, is both entertaining and expressive . . . adding comic punch to these funny-because-they’re-true scenes . . .” â€"Bookpage

“Perfect for someone about to go to middle school, perfect for parents to help ease their child into this new phase. . . . Kinney has done a wonderful service for preteens by talking about all those awful, embarrassing, and good moments.” â€"The San Diego Union Tribune

We want normal books!, November 8, 2008

by

I write this review not only in my name but also on behalf of a group of my friends. We all love Wimpy Kid series and we have read the two previous Wimpy Kid diaries. So, naturally we were all excited about the newest title in the series. However, we were rather disappointed in it. This is not like the previous books that were full of funny stories. Most of this book you have to write yourself! Well, not all of us are so creative to write our own books. We rather read them! Well, we tried to fill out a few pages and let others read them, but it actually turned out to be a blunder and we got bored with it pretty fast...
So, I guess, my message to the author of the book is to continue writing more Wimpy Kid diaries the way it was done before. I hope that the next book, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw (Diary of a Wimpy Kid), will be as interesting as the previous two. In the meantime, if you want to know what really rocks, check the series of Why Some Cats are Rascals, Book 2

Great Series and Great Variation, March 5, 2010

by Ginny

The Diary series of books are a favorite of my children and this one is a great variation of the series, making their own.

Very creative and a way to expand imagination and thought.

As noted in the title it is DYI and not a traditional book, so keep that in mind when choosing it as oppossed to the other versions. With that in mind, this provides alot of enjoyment.

I didn't have much stuff to do and then their were like 75 blank pages. But the other stuff was good.

by Careful buyer

My 7 year old loves the Wimpy Kid books. I brought all of the series this christmas. My son loves to read and Wimpy Kid will hold his interest for hours, until I have to tell him to put the book down and go to bed. Great book. Children in his class tries to trade books with him, but you can not brive him for the Wimpy Kid. If your children love to read this is a great book to buy.
