When a couple gets pregnant, typically, the first thing the mother-to-be does is rush out to the bookstore to buy the various pregnancy bibles. But how is the expectant father supposed to know what to expect? He could wait in the dark and take his cues from his partner, or he could prepare himself for anything and everything by seeking the counsel of two regular dudes, who have climbed the steep learning curve (and lived to tell) that comes when having a baby. THE DUDES' GUIDE TO PREGNANCY dispenses irreverent, honest, practical advice for the expectant father in an easy-to-understand--and often hilarious--man-to-man format. Taking you through the entire nine month process, the Dudes offer advice on what to expect from your newly pregnant wife (paranoia, morning sickness, enlarged breasts, no sex); the dos and don'ts of dealing with your wife's body and mood changes, your mother-in-law and other family members; and the nitty-gritty details of what is expected of you and how your life will be changing during the next 40 weeks. THE DUDES' GUIDE TO PREGNANCYgives twenty-something to forty-something men the indespensible tools and advice they need to maneuver the many ups and downs associated with impending fatherhood.

Not what I expected, January 7, 2010
by D. Johnson
I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy this book. I found the book very entertaining. I agree with other reviews that men need to be careful in letting their wives read it too. It's very irreverent towards pregnancy. I am unable to give it a full 5 stars because I was hoping for a book that was more educational. This is not the book to read if your looking for sincere knowledge. This is 100% for entertainment.

For Dudes!, June 26, 2008
by Armchair Interviews
Your wife is pregnant. Congratulations! Now it's time to buy this book, because life as you knew it is going to change--big time.
The Dudes' Guide to Pregnancy, in spite of the very long title, is aptly named, because a woman does go through major changes, physically and mentally, with the news of an upcoming baby. The Dudes' Guide to Pregnancy will take you, a dude, though the entire pregnancy (and if you are one of the ones who are planning to get your wife or significant other pregnant, then the authors will talk you through that part too). And then they'll tell you about the ways your life will change after the baby is born.
The Dudes' Guide to Pregnancy promised to be funny reading, which is why I requested to review it. It didn't disappoint. However, there is a warning toward the beginning of the book that this book is not written for females, and under no circumstances let a woman read it...there is good reason for this. The language used is very graphic, and they use straight guy-talk, with no beating around the bush.
Over all, the book is pretty accurate about what a pregnancy might be like. I found some of the situations a bit (okay, a lot) overdone, but they were funny to read. They also include sections about myth/fact where they can dispel myths--or not--with humor.
I enjoyed reading The Dudes' Guide to Pregnancy, even though I'm not a dude and I am a female, and can see where it would be helpful for male reading when they get the news "We're having a baby!"

WIthout this book, I may not have survived pregnancy, June 5, 2009
by David Mcmillan
My wife and I are about to have our first kid, and we've done our fair share of research, but this book is definatly the one worth reading out of all of them. It really has two things going for it, humor and information.
The read is easy. It's almost flows as easily and humorously as the sunday comics page. Now, I know I definitely have the easy part of pregnancy being a man and all, but it is still pretty rough on both of us. This book brought that perspective to light for my wife and made it easier to convince me to do things for her.
Overall, I cannot recommend this book enough to expecting parents of both genders. But if you already know everything and have no sense of humor, you may not get anything out of it.

This book is for DUDES ONLY!, June 12, 2008
by SewingFits
The first thing which must be said is this book is only for guys. This book is off-limits to opposite gender.
Yes, this book is crude, irreverent, unapologetic, and full of testosterone (also known as guy humor.) There's also swearing in the book . There are also three sketches of possible sex positions (WOO-HOO) of a dude with a hairy chest and a huge bushy mustache. The censored blocks are in place to prevent any dude from seeing any line art erotica. If you are offended by this you are most likely NOT A DUDE! (Refer to the first paragraph.)
This book is blatantly honest with a heaping helping of sarcasm mixed in.
The "Dudes" discuss every aspect any soon-to-be dad would be interested to know (or at least be comforted to realize they're not the only ones going through this.)
I'm looking forward to any sequels such as: Dude's guide to vasectomy, toddlers, teenagers, etc...
