Scary and Infuriating!, June 11, 2006

by EddyG

Wow! Malkin has really hit the spot with this quick, but comprehensive read on how the Democrats and their fellow travellers have lost it since 9/11. By dividing the book into easily digested, topical, anecdotal accounts, she does a wonderful job of capturing how the liberal/left has shown its true colors during one of our nation's most trying times. As I read about the extremism, lies, distortions, ignorance, brutal uncivil behavior, hypocritical doublestandards, and how their "mainstreamers" cover-up or ignore the conduct, I couldn't help but be frightened. I've personally witnessed some of that behavior - it concerned me then, and really bothers me now. As you glide through the pages you can't help but conjure up scenes like the brutal "acts of repudiation" conducted by pro-government crowds against peaceful opponents of Cuba's Marxist dictatorship. It was especially sickening to read how poorly certain Iraq War Veterans were treated simply because they served in or supported the war effort.

With this book, Malkin has done us a favor by compiling the absolutely unconscionable behavior of a political movement, and its media facilitators, that daily displays why they shouldn't be given our popular trust. The book will infuriate the liberal/left (witness the poorly disguised disdain shown in the Publishers Weekly review) because it reveals them for what they are. However, it is a timely and necessary product that all common-sense driven Americans should read. Buy it, read it, cringe, then decide for yourself if it isn't a bit "scary and infuriating."

Perhaps some research would help, December 27, 2006

by Book Freak

It's fascinating to read the reviews of the people who hate Michelle Malkin and her book. The problem is, none of them are able to disprove what she says. And the book has extensive footnotes and links to her sources, so if you are sceptical, do the research yourself! I worked through the first two chapters and looked many of the references so I could see for myself. The frightening thing is not her opinions, but that the examples she gives to back them up are true!!! I would rank Michelle above Ann Coulter because Michelle did such a good job of backing up her arguments. Of course, some people will judge based simply on the fact that they hate her. But it's well worth it to look up some of the references and find out first-hand what's been going on with liberals in America these days, and to discover the disturbing truth that it's not just a few nut cases who are giving others a bad name, but very much a trend among Liberals and the Democratic party.

Moonbats Exposed, December 5, 2007

by Glenn Yates

Don't let your four year old read this book. Good grief it is frightening to see how much deranged venom there is out there in blog land. I've got a few friends and co-workers that I thought were bad, but they are sane and sober (not to mention g-rated) compared to Malkin's email friends.
Other than an occasional short article this was the first Malkin I had read. I had the impression that she was an extremist and had not paid her any attention. I'm sure she is an extremist to some, but little in this book seemed extreme to me other than the comments from her critics.
The book isn't just a collection of email rants, although for some reason that part stood out to me (I don't get to read that much profanity that often is probably why), it also chronicles many of the more and more inane comments from high party leaders, the kind of comments that once would barely have been suggested behind closed doors (Bush knew ahead about 9/11, etc), much less said aloud on network TV. That probably has to suffice for the theme of the book- the disconnect from reality of many "mainstream" party figures and "respected" party leaders. In all candor, while Malkin has a nice sense of humor and a pleasant conversational writing style, this particular book is more of a compilation of anecdotes than any kind of serious look at liberalism and its impact on the society.
She offers some armchair observations as to why things have degenerated, and seems fairly insightful to me, but still this is more entertainment than anything. That said, she writes well, and if you suspect she is correct you will probably enjoy the read. If you are one of the moonbats (and I doubt you were going to add twenty dollars to the coffers of the other side anyway) do yourself a favor and pass on this book.

With Malice Toward None, March 13, 2006

by sandalista

Ms Malkin was briefly the token conservative at the Seattle Times. For a brief shining moment she added unexpected views and hues to Left Coast media that ride the diversity rainbow from far left to farther left. Before she MovedOn to better places and better things, she introduced me to the Freepers at Free Republic. Like a gifted and patient teacher, Michelle Malkin broadened and expanded my world.

That's why her recent book, Unhinged, is as painful as a punch in the face. My mentor in a shared escape from smelly liberal orthodoxy is catching slurs, threats, and assaults that orthodox liberals piously claim to have shunned & shamed out of public life. Sensitive leftists, the tolerant secular fundamentalists who vilify "hate crimes" and "hate speech," are throwing their feces at Michelle Malkin because she dares to care. Because she dares to question and to dissent.

Much of Unhinged is familiar to readers and listeners who were liberated from liberalism by gifted teachers like Malkin. Her book retails a canon of anecdote that feeds red meat to AM radio, the Freepers, and blogs such as michellemalkin.com. Ten or fifteen years ago, recycled tales of water buffalo at Penn, burned Reviews at Dartmouth, Jell-o vibrators at UNH, rectal bullwhips, and urine crucifixes filled the Right with the filler of culture war and outrage that Malkin updates here. She piles new but now familiar anecdotes into a roiled pot of pathology that makes old debates about public funding of Mapplethorpe bullwhips look quaint & sedate.

Then Malkin's book lurches from pathology to the heart of darkness. There were dark hearts on the Right during Clinton's years, Malkin writes; misfits at Mena and malcontents looking for bodies under every bed or ... Bush. And we're back, sickeningly, in the sick here & now. The Force 5 storm surge of vilification & vituperation blowing against Bush 2.0 is nothing but smiley faces compared to the unhinged hatred thrown at the author of Unhinged. Michelle Malkin deserves the Medal of Freedom that Quincy Bush, preposterously, gave to George Tenet, and she deserves it for hanging on and standing tall.

The liberal love letters to Malkin are here, unredacted. Every vile slander & slur of insane projectile liberal spit & bile is here: poems to diversity, love letters to America & to a great American, Michelle Malkin, from the sensitive people, the tolerant people.

Hard to swallow, even harder to refute, January 22, 2006

by Peter Lorenzi

Michelle Malkin has written a short, pithy, documented story of the dark side of the loony liberal left, the moonbat faction and elements of some of the "thought leaders" of the Democrats.

Sure, conservatives have moments of lunacy as well, but not nearly as many and not nearly as mean.

What most people would call hate speech or politically incorrect language seems to have a comfortable home in the minds and mouths of the moonbats. Language and images that would get conservatives banished or out of office seems to earn kudos from the mainstream media when it comes from the loony lefties, especially if the words are mouthed by a 'star' or celebrity.

The left has never comes to grips with the history that they created: In 1992, Bill Clinton and his party had the control of the White House, congress, and, for all intents and purposes, the Supreme Court. However, putting Bill and Hillary in office only initiated the greatest conservative surge among the populace, and by 2000, the middle American conservative movement had swept the White House, the congress, and the right to pick the next set of Supreme Court justices. This unhinged the liberal left at a time when they should and could have made their own appropriate corrections. Instead, we get a self-destructive Howard Dean replaced by the wholly inept John Kerry, the real poster boy for the rich, spoiled, clueless elements of the left. Instead of a counterbalance to the right, we have a deadweight sinking the left into its own mire.

It is painful to read the numerous, silly, cruel, stupid acts perpetuated by the moonbats. It might have some redemptive quality if only their intentions were good. They're not, and Malkin has been the unfair recipient of people who substitute venom for logic, and ad hominen attacks for evidence. This is not pleasant to read but, at the same time, there are some chuckles that stem from reading the equivalent of an episode of Jerry Springer.
